Folks, I know it's not October yet but given all the topics on here proclaiming our impending doom I thought I would post early. The truth is it won't. We aren't folding. There is a plan in place and a meeting coming up where we will share that plan. The fact of the matter is that this was all expected. The board members who took out loans to help the club had set this up months ago so we were ready.
There are a lot of people (we know who you are) in the local soccer community who really hate us. It doesn't bother me but it's unhealthy for the coaches and kids. Our two most recent coach departures actually said it was because of the toxic environment in Washington and on this forum. They were burnt out trying to deal with the parents and anonymous forum members. Even some of the players who have left told us it's because there is so much negativity about LFC that they are getting bullied at school.
As far as the golf fundraiser goes. It was a huge success and we haven't posted pictures because some of the local celebrities who were there cannot be seen endorsing a 501c3 youth sports club. The turnout was better than expected and we are going to be able to keep the gym at the office as a result.
Because rumors make it around so quickly I want to address a report regarding us filing a complaint with WPL for all the poaching of players by other local clubs. What happened when the coaches all left together was unfair to LFC. We went to WPL with evidence of that poaching collected from the posts on this forum. Unfortunately the main offenders aren't playing in WPL so there is nothing they can do to address the issue. We are talking to the lawyers about filing a complaint with USSF about what happened but Liverpool FC needs to be involved with that from a marketing perspective. We have a meeting later this week with the head of legal from Liverpool to discuss options.
Liverpool continues to support us and we never walk alone so we are confident we will get through this patch and be able to hire more coaches, field more teams, score some goals, and change the soccer landscape in Washington.
