    Western Washington Surf

With the rebranding and the recent addition of quite a few A licensed coaches, is Western Washington Surf (Titans) a legitimate substitute to ECNL or to a lesser extent GA? Or do they compete more at an RCL/rec level?

Who do they even play in league play?

How the heck are they even able to hire so many coaches at once?

    WPL/EA and soon GA.

They will topple LFC, Valor, and some of the other clubs not affiliated with a national program.

Probably a few years before they can regularly compete with ECNL teams across multiple age bands.

Wet dream. It’s still the Titans. Not hard to topple Valor and LFC. It’s still select level soccer

Historically the club has been extremely poorly managed from a player/coach perspective. It’s treated like a for profit business and developing players has not been ownerships first priority. Too soon to say if the new hires are an attempt at changing this or just an attempt at a sort of hostile takeover of another club…

They are applying to join GA but the other local GA teams would likely try to block/stall the application as that program is already weak in the NW and getting watered down as they try to spread a few decent players across these clubs. Next year will be a stretch.

I’d guess they stay competitive with Valor but that’s about it, maybe win a few of the smaller local tournaments. The coaches they hired might be good people but don’t have a lot of history beating ECNL teams at any age group in an established clubs when they’ve faced them in tournaments.

At this point, LFC is on life support and may crater, so perhaps Surf will fill the NW GA void.

These coaches regularly beat RCL 1 teams before their teams hit ECNL age (and lose some top players), so wouldn’t hold that against them. A lot of the times, it’s about the Jimmys and Joes, not Xs and Os.

“These coaches regularly beat RCL 1 teams.”Total bull****. For one they play in separate leagues. The only truth here is thar they lose players. Western Washington Surf is total dog****. It’s a select level club that needs to hold a tournament where the top prize is entry into Surf Cup where clubs like XF and Eastside get in automatically.

Titans lost some of their best coaches as well in the last year or two. If you have paid close attention, you would find out that their Elite program was a total failure. It didn't attract players from outside, and at the same time destroyed their location teams.

This best sums it up. Titans picked up some good pieces but they’ve had them before and have been unable to turn things around. Maybe they pull some LFC players but even that is questionable on the level of talent they’ll get. Good players will not get the level of exposure that will get them to college nor the level of competition for them to improve.

I know several Titans coaches left recently after fell out with their new CEO. This Marlon guy can be as good as Rory.

The addition of former ISC Gunner/Liverpool coaches and players does not improve this program past select. Its the merger of two bad clubs.

Bellevue is too crowded with too many people trying to pick the pocket of unknowing consumers.

Agreed with others, their new coaches don't really change anything

They absolutely do. They don’t have licensed coaches on staff which you need, plus, the 4 coaches who joined at the beginning of January, you won’t find many more dedicated or hard working than them. Credit to surf and other clubs for trying to be better.

Surf is a giant organization, they have the funds and means to go after XF's market dominance (they're way bigger than Titans ever was). They know that parents of young daughters are second guessing XF after the NPR/national news hit - so they're seizing the opportunity by hiring great coaches and ramping up their PR machine.

****ing hilarious. Surf sells its brand name like a franchise to rebrand their clubs. Remember the old NW Nationals when they were dying? They rebranded to Greater Seattle Surf which is no longer in existence. Get the **** out of here
