Love the suggestion of 1 hour practice = 1 hour paid training. Really appreciate the suggestions. thx.

Exactly! No need to pay more for D3 prospects. U10 kids who have skill are already doing EPD and trying out for PL academies. Anything lower than that is not really worth it.
If everything we did for our kids was solely based on ROI, we'd should just tie them to their desk to learn coding. We pay for ski lessons but don't expect our kids to become the next Lindsay Vonn. We pay for piano lessons but don't expect them to play at Carnegie Hall. If the kid likes soccer and wants to improve and keep playing on better teams/leagues, why not encourage it? The skills and experiences and memories gained in competitive sports will be carried well beyond their playing career.

I initially thought the 'go back to REC' comment was jesting. But i guess there really are people who take a D1-or-Bust approach to parenting,.......which is just sad.

The majority of kids would have more fun in Rec and maybe their parents could chill out a little too.

The reality for the great many players is that they are playing recreationally. The problem is that parents don't want to hear that and they can't handle not keeping up with the 1% (soccerwise, not financially)
