We've put through 3 kids through crossfire so far, another 1 graduating out into college this year and 2 more that just started at u8. We've had Bernie, Billy, and justi all as coaches and have never witnessed the accusations listed by justi, by us parents or any of our kids or teammates on any of those teams. Cant even start to count how many games and travel tournaments we were around all 3 coaches and will hold judgment until we see the evidence but we do know justi thought and acted like she was the next girls encl director for months and was absolutely livid after finding out she did not get the position.
Like an earlier post said we wouldn't mind Bernie and Billy being gone or at least not in positions of power and that new leadership would be a positive change in getting more top coaches to head crossfires way. Most coaches that come here end up realizing there's just no room to move up the ranks in the club and we firmly believe it keeps smart talented coaches from making the jump.

The allegations of inappropriate touching of a player creates serious risk of liability for Crossfire and LWYSA but also for Justi. Per the safe sport regulations she was required to report this to law-enforcement. Why didn’t she?
these are the safe sport requirements per US Club. USYS is the same.
“MANDATORY REPORTING PROVISIONS
Pursuant to the SafeSport Act, all mandatory reporters are required to report suspected child abuse, including sexual abuse, within 24 hours to the local law enforcement agency or local child protective services agency that has jurisdiction to investigate reports of child abuse or to protect child abuse victims, or to the FBI. This requirement applies to, among others, all Participants as described in US Club Soccer Policy 13.01.
Beyond the obligations described in Section 13.03(a), Adult Participants also have an affirmative duty to report suspected abuse or other misconduct to US Club Soccer, and as many be applicable, the U.S. Center for SafeSport.
These obligations are in addition to any state or local law requirements that an individual may have in a particular jurisdiction.
safesport requires the report to be made within 24 hours. Under Washington law the report is required to be made within 48 hours.

It does not appear such a report was made by Justi or anyone at Crossfire. The Complaint says nothing about whether Justi complied with her obligation to report the situation to law-enforcement within 24 hours. If she failed to report it, it could be a safe sport violation by Justi and that would create problems for her and her new employer PacNW. Did PacNW do their due diligence before hiring Justi? Did she tell them everything? PacNW needs to deal with this as well because their new employee may be in violation of Safesport rules. Should they remove her from coaching duties? For sure, Crossfire’s leadership is in trouble for not acting on Justi’s information.
The state statute would require Justi to report the situation to law-enforcement if she was the supervisor of the alleged abuser. that may be a technicality she and her lawyers are relying on, but it doesn’t get her out of the safesport 24 hour reporting requirement.

I feel bad for crossfire and the kids in the program. But honestly the best thing to happen here is for crossfire to burn to the ground. An example needs to be set and Bernie needs to pay the price.
While I didn't see these allegations first hand, you only need to spend a small time around him to see what kind of person he is.

Really? This is what you are worried about? Whether the person reporting an issue checks all the boxes.
the parents of the kids who were the victims of the inappropriate touching should be contacting police and prosecutors need to get involved.

Yeah. Cuz if adults do their jobs kids are better protected. I’m concerned about the protection of the kids. You should be concerned about adults who get trained and certified about how to protect kids and report violations, but then don’t. From your comment, it sounds like you are good with coaches who don’t know their obligations for protecting kids even though they are “certified”.

It is important for this information to be shared with xf sponsors like Nike to see if these entities want to continue to be involved with the Bernie/Justi fight
