    WA EPD Callbacks

Today was the second and final day of WA EPD callback tryouts for WA EPD 2010 boys. First session was cancelled after about an hour due to a nearby apartment fire. Second callback tryout day had significantly less kids because a bunch of kids already got called and were informed to be accepted in the pool.

I am not understanding the purpose of the callback sessions if there's already a set of kids that were pre-determined to join, even if the callback sessions have not concluded yet, with the first session not even a full one therefore not all kids had longer playtime.

Is this how it normally is for WA EPD? Is that how callbacks work?

Not sure if this is normal for EPD, but it makes sense. Less kids means the coaches can focus on less kids, making it more easier to really determine who to bring onboard. If a group of kids already proved that they are able to join, there is no point in bringing them in for another session. I suppose bringing them in anyways allows you to compare players that are in the maybe category to play against the kids who are already guaranteed a spot, but with EPD since the coaches don't know most of the players I can see why they want to thin the group.

That fire in Tukwila killed people, I think it was like 3. Always have a fire plan folks especially if you live or work in a big building.

The 2010's did have a tryout in May and then sent some teams to the Friendship Tournament in Portland so I'm guessing the players that made it after the first call back had played in that and the coaches had seen enough play to know. I was surprised they had all the 2010's back for another tryout in August after conducting one in May.

All the kids that made it didn't bother to show up today. Of the 50 kids that were left today, they might take 2 or 3. That's the brutal truth.

Perhaps it was to allow them to compare the new potential recruits with the current group.

This is not the way it’s supposed to go all the call back kids are supposed to show up there is not suppose to be a final decision on kids until the pool list is posted.
The tryout is suppose to be fair , if you think something is fishy you should contact a board member.. stay away from Bastien he as crooked as that come…good luck

Come on, EPD is an has always been an inside job. Coaches pick players from their club and previously known players. It's never been an open tryout why pretend it is now LOL

It's not that the kids didn't bother to show up. An email went out to players that said if you are receiving this email do not come to the Thursday session and said the list of players that made the pool will be posted on 8/25.

Sounds like it was not a legitimate tryout. Did they just want to fleece dozens of unsuspecting families? What scumbags

$35 big bucks to figure out this out. Folks got away cheap. The real tragedy begins the $350 pool fee when the 11 has been picked already and they are
finding the 7 subs for Arizona. Then, $1500 for Arizona. Then, $1000? for Regional camp. Then, $2500+? for Florida. Better to save your money
for college. EPD is a good experience, but again, ID camps, videos, showcases, and good grades will open more doors if the goal is to be recruited.

It been going on for years, they used to list the pool of players and the team they belong to but that stopped because the to be a lot of PACNW got put in the pool …most of the evaluators were PAC coaches. There is no way to evaluate around 75-100 boys fairly in 3- a 1-1/2 hour session

EPD continues to be a dumpster fire. After 6 months of near zero communication all of the sudden they are ready to go once fees are about to be collected. They have tryouts in Spokane tomorrow but haven’t announced a single coach. How does that work?

For g05 there was a good mix of kids from the ECNL clubs plus reign and various rcl clubs. Lots of kids who hadn’t done epd for a while due to da. Pool seems to have a mix from the various clubs and doesn’t seem to reflect any particular favoritism. Tryout was well run. Took a bit longer than they said it would to post the list but no big deal.

Sounds like a PAC parent or coach.
