All this thread is going to do is post competitive level of Clubs in town. Hopefully it gives ammunition for families looking for the proper club to invest there time and resources. If your club struggles, and you are a "everyone gets a trophy and development over wins person" I would suggest not reading this thread...

"Development over wins person" LOL... Tell me one ECNL club in this state that can claim to be "winning". The problem is that they totally neglect the development in pursuit of wins...therefore never winning. Look at what Thorns and Timbers have done to ODP.. Its an absolute joke now. How they still call it Olympic "Development" is a mystery to me. Good luck to all parents who are willing to pay triple what a state team costs to play on ECNL clubs in Portland, but I cant imagine how they could possibly calculate a true return on that investment. If you want to "Win" you should stay far away from the Thorns, FC, and NW Elite. Always focus on developing players, that is precisely how you win trophies.

Looks like Thorns clear choice over FCP for families looking to join a ECNL Club.

And this doesn't even include the younger Pre-Academy teams that are dominating at their age groups.

Huh…where are these numbers coming from? Their seasons just started this weekend and NWEFC had 12 games (6-4-0, two unlisted), Thorns 6-0, FCP 0-6.

There are two tiers of competition.

The ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) are the tier 1 teams.

The ECRL (Elite Club Regional League) are the tier 2 teams.

Every ECNL club in the NW Conference also have ECRL teams with the exception of FC Portland who have only their ECNL teams.

Of course, the case could be made that aside from the FC Portland 2007’s the rest of their ECNL teams would be better off playing against the ECRL competition because the other ECNL teams are too good for them.

The results given are for top team ECNL teams at every age group per club and includes showcase play. Before you break your arm pointing at how poor FCP is showing please note that everyone in Oregon is struggling in ECNL at this point in time. The best horrible team is still horrible.

But the most horrible team is still the worst...

Go look at Seattle, NorCal and SoCal, Midwest and East coast. You will soon see there is lots of parity. The perennial top clubs still remain but the middle is highly competitive and then there are the bottom feeders. NWEFC and Thorns are in the middle. FC is in the bottom. So you can cherry pick a record without reference all you like but if you go and pull the entire ECNL standing for every region you may see some flaws in your thinking bud.

It doesn’t look like you did it very well. If you look at that post the PDX Thorns were 6 and 0 for the weekend and you have them listed as 5 wins total. I’m sure NWEFC have more than 8 wins too if they had 6 in a weekend.

ECRL as someone mentioned is a completely different league.

You need to look up league standings on ECNL site for Nortwest teams. Maybe your results get more flattering for you and friends as year continues.

All of the Portland ECNL teams suck. You want a trophy for being the best of the worst, Thornys? Whatever. Hopefully your girls are getting some physical activity in and having some fun along the way. That's where it will end for them. Unless you make it suck for them.
