    DA is dead

Goodbye to all the lies that people where fed from the DA coaches for years. Congratulations to all the RI players who crossed the bridge for useless reasons to not represent RI clubs and help Mass clubs be top dogs who created all this madness.

People Wake up and smell the roses if your a RI player, why wouldn’t you want to represent where you are from. Be part of a club for the right reasons!

Why would people who are paying club soccer money NOT cross the bridge to play in a bigger pond?

      What are the "right" reasons?

If you are good enough college coaches will find you.

        Right reasons
        - good coaching
        - good team/club culture

If that’s in place the rest don’t matter

Completely false. If you're a girl and want to play D1 college soccer, your only two options now are FC Stars and Scorpions. The alternative is showing up to ID clinics and hoping the coaches are impressed enough by your play to give you a shot. Long shot at best. NPL and EDP showcases are mostly for D3 coaches.

If you're a boy, the situation is even bleaker. DA was the top, but even then it was stratisfied by MLS and non-MLS. Now EDP, ECNL, and NPL are all vying for top dog while MLS clubs do their own thing. You want to walk onto a team and play in college, stay in RI. You want to maybe play D3, stay in RI. You want a shot at making a D1 school and fighting for a piece of one of the 9.9 scholarships per team, look elsewhere. Bottom line, Revs and Bolts are still the place to be if you want a shot at D1.

Now, you want to play for the pure joy of it, have some fun and then hang it up after HS, definitely stay in RI.

Not the OP, but it is a thread about the (now-dead) DA, which AFAIK did not exist within RI clubs.

What a bunch of horse crap. It’s laughable that you think the only real path to D1 soccer is to play for Stars or Scorpions. Your agenda is showing.

So tell me, what other R.I. girls received D1 scholarship money that didn’t go through the ECNL or DA?
You won’t be able to name one.

This year’s juniors and seniors silly goose. No one from last year’s class either.
McNulty was 2015 before the DA started and before the ECNL became the Juggernaut it is today.
No one is going to R.I. high school games or NPL now. Maybe 4 years ago for NPL, but not in today’s recruiting landscape. NPL is the second team for the big clubs. That’s just today’s reality. I don’t Like it either, but if you want a division 1 look and don’t play for a big club it’s ODP, private pricy camps like Nike or Adiddas, and multiple college ID camps. This way cost a ton of money and involves a lot of travel over a bunch of bridges.

Walk-ons from NPL who received no money and don’t get play time... maybe. Any decent female player from RI went to DA or ECNL. Not like RI is a producer of talent either... look at the commits from RI per age group.
