Why do all the top girls leave RI and play for soccer clubs in MA or CT? It seems like our RI soccer clubs are failing the girls in RI. Maybe we’ve been to focused on the boys? Seems backwards.

This is true. The better players realize that they need to play better competition to improve if interested in pursuing soccer in college. None of the RI clubs play in a top girl's league like ECNL or GA. So, the better players leave. It's too bad, but this is the current state of affairs in RI girls soccer.

Adding RI Surf Elite teams to the GA would be a good thing. It’s not like the GA is overloaded with highly competitive teams. The Surf Elite teams could probably do well in that league.

And if you sprinkle a few Bayside players in the mix, you would have teams that possibly would do really well in ECNL or GA.

Trying to merge those players would be no good as the playing style at those top clubs in MA is far superior than the kickball style of Surf.

The GA was in RI when NEFC was there. Then all the coaches had a tantrum because their top players would leave their team to get the opportunity to play GA. Most of them are now at RI Surf. You really think Surf will get GA now. RI has a small state small town mentality. Too many towns prefer dad coaches and playing with their friends from school and call it premier.
