15 players from ECNL, 3 from GA…O from any other league. The patch matters Bayside and Surf parents.

Closest was from SUSA which plays in ECNL New England Conference with Stars and Scorps. One from NYSC (Northeast GA) on the 4-player taxi squad. Solar carries the day with 3 of 18 girls.

This should not be a hard reality to understand. To be selected for the US National Teams you have to be at the highest level within your age group. The only way you get there is working hard and playing at the highest competitive level possible. Without a doubt that means playing against ECNL and some GA teams. The other leagues like DPL, Impact, and NEP just don’t have the same level of competition to develop the highest level players. There maybe exceptions to the rule here and there, but by U15 National Team players have been battle tested against the best players within their age group.

Absolutely...and same applies for college soccer. Sure someone can make it at the top levels of college from those other leagues but it's significantly harder. Not playing against the best competition possible causes coaches to wonder how the player would perform against better opponents. Not to mention that getting a coach to see you play from those other leagues is significantly harder. Most likely you have to spend big $ attending college ID camps while those other leagues draw the coaches to their games and showcases.
