That is pretty sad to see other organizations talking like this to other clubs. Don’t we all want these kids to succeed and maybe bring some better soccer to our area? We have the talent here but when you have organizations acting like this it goes to show you that all they want is money. The coaching isn’t the best here and it’s a ******* game to them all. The real coaches are in the organizations that can actually show a resume of growth and not in their pockets. Any good coach would be happy to have their player move to bigger and better things. Unfortunately, none in RI. How about you all stop worrying about the other clubs and start looking at your own and challenging the kids and developing them to be the best that they can be. Stop adding additional cost services in your club that don’t do jack **** except help pay for your apartments and new cars. Why don’t you watch your teams videos and actually coach and develop your teams? Stop measuring the size of your you know what’s and actually step up to the plate and coach these moldable players that could potentially be great. Stop having players of the week, month, season and make everyone feel like part of the team and not to stand out. That promotes selfishness and negative energy. Maybe a team of the week, because let’s be honest they couldn’t do it alone. There are some kids that never get recognized and do amazing work so stop making them feel worthless. You coaches are emotionally screwing with a lot of these kids confidence so shame on you, a good coach would build it. So look in the mirror and say to yourself, how can I be a better coach to these kids? How can I make every child feel like they play an important role in the game? You start doing these things and guarantee you will be more successful on the field. So stop thinking you are better then the other, because honestly the other isn’t great either so measuring **** to **** is nothing to be proud of.

Makes MA and CT clubs happy. E64 is an expensive experiment for Bayside girls and DPL is becoming a joke for Surf. Both augment their program with B and C teams playing in NECSL and Surf has Pumas teams playing in town leagues. Recreational programs

Someone’s angel was left off the “Team of the Week” this past weekend. The coach must be out to get him or maybe he didn’t submit in time because he was out buying new cars every day.

No coach is getting rich from Club soccer. Period.

The only thing stopping coaches from developing players at these clubs are the parents. The ones on here trolling the chat boards and throwing around badges and leagues. Everyone says they want their kid to develop, until you actually play for a coach who truly focuses on development and does not worry about the W’s.

This is when you find out that almost every parent only wants to win and they hate having a kid on a team that doesn’t win. So, instead they go and find a team that wins regards of the style of play and dismiss the disservice they are doing their child.

I am not saying that development and winning are mutually exclusive. They are not. But in younger ages (read – 4v4, 7v7, 9v9 in the first couple years of 11v11) the focus should be on developing players over earning a W. If you like your team, and you like the coach, and your child is getting better every year. You’re in a good spot.

RI is a disgrace for parents, half of the bayside team parents smoking on the sidelines.

So much hate for Bayside teams, sounds like jealousy to me, just saying!!!

The DPL and the growth is impressive this year. Adding the Summit event is a good idea also to get the best teams across the country playing each other before Nationals. Slowly and steadily the DPL has become a go to for a lot of clubs across the country. Below ECNL and GA but in most areas now DPL is next in line. Their social media game is up there with the best as well. Props where it due. RI Surf are using it for the purpose they need, in the Northeast its a no brainier outside of ECNL and GA.

Haha sounds like someone is marketing for their own club here! Say what you need to make you sleep better at night but we will all see it in the rankings. Maybe this year you all can place better in the same tournaments you go to every year. Funny when half the time you play some of your teams because you have 3 or so in each age group. Get some new competition and hold your ground then you can talk about props to your club that is the basically a town team that uses the name surf. Go play some real surf teams that have an ecnl or GA in their name props to those teams for developing their players and being more than a dollar sign.

If you look at the current landscape of girls soccer in our area, if you are NOT willing to travel to Lancaster and play for Stars, it’s probably really not worth it. If you know the history of the ECNL and the Stars program, they will always be the top dog in our area. It was built to be that way. GA is still a strong option and NEFC and SSS have some solid teams. However, if you really do an analysis on the important age groups; 2010 to 2006 for this argument, Stars is the top dog. Also to PLAY on Stars (not just be on Stars) you need to be a top 5% player, have the means to get to Lancaster 3-4X per week and have the economic means as well. Full stop.

Next option for those parents chasing a badge (ECNL) would be Scorpions. Let’s quickly compare the in state options vs Scorpions National Teams:

2006 - CC’s Bayside team beat them twice last year. Scorps sat at home in June and the Bayside team showcased themselves at Impact Nationals.

2007 - PM’s Surf Team tied them in April with both teams missing players. Both teams added players since and seem to be similar still. The Surf Team went to DPL nationals finishing third with great exposure while the Scorps team finished mid-pack in ECNL NE conference and sat home in late June, early July.

2008 - SG’s Surf Team tied them last Spring. Teams seem very comparable. This is a case of the top 08’s being spread thin between Bayside and Surf. If they played on one team - it’s no contest (I’ll touch on that below). Again Surf went to DPL Nationals, also finishing third. Scorps were home.

2009 - CW’s team is strong at 09. They did lose to Scorps in the summer twice in close matches. The nod may go to Scorps in this one but CW is a tremendous coach and that team will fair very well if they can stay together.

2010 - LR’s Surf team was strong last year and got stronger for this season. However, RG took his whole Bayside team to Scorps. Verdicts not out on this age group yet. Nod probably goes to Scorps.

I’m not the smartest person in the world, but what I do know is you can get comparable options in state (RI) at each older age group. Each of these teams are have strong coaches.

On the teams mentioned above - the Bayside 06 team already has girls in conversations with D1 Schools. The 07 team is sophomores and won’t be able to communicate with schools until mid June, but the top girls on that team are D1 caliber.

If you’re goal is D1 powerhouse soccer school outside of our Region, you either have that or you don’t. ECNL May give you a little bit more there if you are on a top team (read stars) and that is because more of the top players gravitate to the ECNL because they have the best sales pitch right now. However, if local D1 is your desire (UCONN, BC, PC, Bryant, UNH etc) those rosters are full of girls from a collection of youth leagues. This is fact. Also D1 is not even the best option for 98% of the girls in our region. Reality check - less than 1% of your kids will play soccer for money. Instead find the college you love (regardless of D1, 2 or 3) and if they have soccer great. You can do that from any club or league as long as you have skill and a plan.

The sad reality is that D1 in most cases is really for the parents. This way they can validate all the money spent over the years chasing the ECNL dream. Ever talk to an ECNL parent? You’ll know because they lead with that. “My daughter plays ECNL” lol. Great.

Last point. Bayside and RI Surf - please heed my pleas here. You want RI to be taken seriously and compete? Put your BS aside. Have Bayside take all the boys teams in the state. They are stronger there and have a better pathway. Let RI Surf take the girls side. Again, they are stronger there and provide a better pathway today. E64 May end up being good. But looking at the early data - it’s behind DPL. Get some solid teams and get that GA pathway. Scorps won’t know what hit them.
You missed the RI TelaTubbies. Right club there. Real cheeky buggers.

Really?!! If you’re talking girls, Here are the facts:

2010- Top bracket 0-3. Lost to 2 GA and 1 ECNL team.
                              2009- No teams
2008- Top Bracket but bracket C with no GA or ECNL teams in it. Finished 1-1-1 against 2 DPL and 1 ECRL (regional) team
2007- Top Bracket but Bracket B with no GA or ECNL teams in it. Finished 1-0-2 against 3 DPL teams
2006- Third Bracket. Finished 3-0 against 2 national league teams and 1 ECRL team.

RI Surf are exactly what people think they are…one of the better teams in the 3rd level of play in New England.

                              1- ECNL, 2- GA, 3- Impact/ENRL/DPL

So basically you are saying they are a glorified town team that you pay a lot for. 2007 and 2006 elite blue or whatever they call it are prob the best around but these girls are also moving to other clubs that are ecnl or ga. So yea they will go back and forth on the boards.
Just wondering when they will get some good coaches? Have you heard the yelling that goes on at these games? Some of them shouldn’t even be around youth. No one looks like they are having fun too afraid to get moved to the c team.
