Does Surf RI still exist on the girls side or did all the best players head off to CFC, Scorpions and Stars? Don’t hear too much about them now. Kind of like the fizzle of Bruno… and we don’t take about Bruno.

Surf couldn’t afford to book referees this past fall, so this club could be in trouble. Loved that their coach ref’d the game. Couldn’t figure out why he kept letting his kids slide tackle ours. Weird.

Sliding tackling isn’t a foul you moron. Typical dumb American who doesn’t know the laws of the game. There isn’t anyone in Ri who hates surf more then me. But you are dumb dumb American. Sit your arse down and shut up if you go on about slide tackles. Your everything wrong with American soccer you know nothing and still say crap like that.

You can't blame anyone from RI for believing this, SuperLiga has made all parents think that slide-tackling is a foul. Even after they clarified in the past year that refs should not be calling fouls just for playing the ball from the ground, local refs still seem to think they know better. Just yesterday I saw a kid flagged for what looked like a perfectly-executed slide tackle. All ball, zero contact with the other player, other player didn't go down. No matter, foul called.

Not unique to RI youth soccer. I also hope you understand the reasoning behind the usual calls against slide tackling in (early) youth soccer.

And what’s that? So children grow up confused what the laws of the game are because American refs think they can make them as they go along? Or because the ref course is a joke and doesn’t make anyone know the laws of the game. Could be they are so well paid they don’t think they need to keep up with the laws and haven't them all .

No, it's because children see the pros do it and think they're also able to do it correctly and with appropriate regard for the safety of themselves and the other player, but mostly this isn't true.

Thankfully we always have parents handy on the sidelines who know the rules much better than refs.

They coach better than coaches too!
