Delco probably fine because whoever is posting these comments isn’t there now

Or they are the new family of a new player. Let's see how this parent feels in a year or two...give it time..this player will be replaced soon enough. That's the Delco way.

Delco doesn’t care about developing our kids. They will replace them in a heartbeat. There is no loyalty. Anyone that stays there on the 2nd team will never get a chance. It is happening to my own kid. We should all leave.

True statement. They lure you in double rostering you, promising your child they will get more playing time on the rl team and will get the opportunity to play with the nl team too. This doesn't happen. LEAVE. They lie to you and the worst part is they lie to the girls. They don't build skill, what they build is low self-confidence.

The players they bring in have the same skill and ability as the player they are releasing. They do not work any harder than the player released. Their motto is instead, of developing their own players they scope out and pick players from failing clubs hoping it will make their teams actually win a game or two, Delco will a make deal with a player’s family and then take the group who are also interested in leaving their failing club. And other players parents pay for individual coaching from their coach for more playing time. There are plenty of reasons of why delco is not fine.
Absolutely agree. Saw it happen with my daughter’s team the last two years. The backroom deals going on are super shady. Yes, some players are replaced by better talent, but usually not. They need to start developing their own players better instead of looking outside of the club. Plenty of players on ECNL and ECNLr would benefit from a different training structure and some focus on the mental side of the game. Very little feedback is given until you’re asked to play with a lower team.

Exactly! Dealing with this issue right now, but our player received an early NL offer and is currently playing with RL. Had we known she was going to play RL we wouldn’t have taken the offer. Total bait and switch. We will most likely move on next year and hopefully find a club who invests in the self confidence of players. The NL and RL teams for my daughter’s age are a revolving door of players. Delco did develop our player over the past few years of NL, but this year was a real wake-up call. We are over rostered and playing time seems to be based on whose parents complain the most.

My daughter has been playing at Delco for 4 years on ECNL. Whenever a player got moved to RL it was never a shock to her or her teammates. They were usually sad to see them put down but understood that they were not performing at the higher level. I also have never seen a girl replaced by a player of lesser talent. Unfortunately a lot of parents are blind to the fact that their daughter might be a better fit on RL.
I don’t see an issue with bringing in new girls. Every club does it at every age group.

We’ve had several move down that were big surprises. Also players who were brought in as part of a larger team clean out that are not ECNL level. Maybe the coaches think they’ll get there eventually, but who knows. It also doesn’t seem very fair to replace someone mid season after it’s too late to switch clubs. Promises are made and then those promises are quickly broken once the season starts. It doesn’t help with any level of confidence for pre-teen and teen girls. I’ve heard of this happening multiple times and on multiple teams and have seen it on our team at Delco. Your daughter sounds lucky enough to be one of the best players on the team. Anyone on the lower half to 3/4 of the team will likely be replaced when a new group comes along. There’s no player loyalty plain and simple. The spout the same BS every year.

Not nearly the quantity or quality of the rec players at West Chest or CRUSA. FC Delco is a massive failure outside of the boys MLS Next program, and the only reason the boys survive is because the Union are pulling the strings. Without the Union they would be worrying about losing MLS Next, as they were worried about losing DA prior to Richie Graham and Spirit United saving the day. The leadership at Delco is a total joke and the club will always be a third option for girls in the Philly area. Facts.

There is very little quality coming out of CRUSA, and they go to PF or PDA

People are foolish if they think Delco will build your daughter's skillset. Girls that begin with the program or are brought in and favored and put on a pedestal when they are in say 8th/9th grade will be replaced or on the second string by the time they are sophomores/juniors. Instead of figuring out why their teams aren't more successful, (maybe it's the poor training or the lack of camaraderie?); Delco's solution is to bring on new talent from other clubs that they feel will help them look good, (and this happens especially with teams that aren't winning games). And the sad part is, when they do bring in new players nothing changes, the outcome is the same, they still lose games and then they start the process all over again. This is why there are always new girls at practices throughout the season. Watch. These coaches want to move on to bigger and better things too and need to produce a successful team. Don't fool yourselves. And for coaches and management that lie to players and families when they double roster players and have them believe it is possible they will ever play on the ECNL team is horrible. They know what they are doing and parents shouldn't accept it and move on to a club that shows they actually care about the development of their children.

Trying to write this post knowing that kids are smart and that players are going to find this site and read these posts at some point (I think anyone who posts or comments here should keep that in mind, especially since I've read numerous comments about player confidence, development, camaraderie, doing the right thing, etc... )

Let's all be realistic in that every single ECNL or GA team in PA and NJ (the country!) uses surrounding clubs as feeder programs. No roster age U-14 or older is comprised of fully home-grown and developed players. The nature of youth soccer is that players graduate until they can't or don't want to graduate any further to the next level.

PDA, Matchfit, Delco, Penn Fusion, FCBucks, Ukies, SJEB, Classics... they all have assimilated players from Lower Merion, WestMont, LVUnited, Deep Run, Reading Rage, Upper Dublin, Penn Alliance, White Clay ... most of those clubs were very competitive up until a certain age. Penn Fusion and Delco's 09 rosters both turned over by close to 50% last season and even PDA accepted 5 new players this season... Ultimately geography and playing time will drive most decisions, and new highly skilled players who are late bloomers will continue to pop out of the woodwork (and unfortunately take away a roster spot...this is a reality of playing competitive soccer at the highest level available in the USA).

But the good news is there are plenty of options out there to match players' objectives and abilities. We should all remind ourselves that only 7% of HS female soccer players will play in college; only 2% will play D1; maybe a handful of players at each ECNL club are going on to play in college in each graduating class -- ECNL is not a guaranteed college scholarship. But it is the current defacto most competitive league with the best collection of talent and most organized playoff and showcase set-up to get players noticed.

Any parent or player committed to the ECNL platform should want BOTH Penn Fusion and Delco to be high quality and competitive at every age group. That makes all the players better and makes the quality of soccer being played better (better to prep players to play at the next level and a better visual product for coaches/scouts to observe).

The ECNL North Atlantic conference is one of the most competitive in the nation at many age groups -- let's keep it that way because a rising tide lifts all boats!
