For the most part, very little difference.
Think of it like "gifted" kids in elem school. They get identified early, parents get excited. By the time HS rolls around, the good students regardless of what they did in elem school are taking AP and Honors. No one talks about gifted kids anymore. Those "gifted" kids are going to the same colleges the "non-gifted" kids are going to.
Hard work made up for any early natural ability. Granted, there are the few kids who are truly gifted but they are few and far between.

ECNL kids on my daughter DIII team didn't play much at all. All her USYS soccer alumns had a good time playing.

Less than 1% of all of these kids are going pro so who cares what league they play in? Play, learn life lessons and have fun. Period.

Find the best coach / team within your budget and driving distance. Doesn't matter if they are ECNL, ECNL-RL, GA or USYS. There is overlap in level on all of these depending on the team. If the player is good, it doesn't matter where they play, they will get noticed. A 15-year-old from USYS just signed with Washington Spirt. Ignore the puffed-up parents on this site. Find a good coach and go from there. If the kid is good, they'll be able to play wherever they want no matter what system they're in.
