All you have to do is compare the pay to play model compared with most of the world where players/ families do not have to pay the amounts here and yet operate perfectly fine producing great people and players by the end of it - it is too much of business forgetting you are dealing with children that are not commodities just to win a plastic trophy.

Welcome to U.S. Soccer. We are proud to announce the official breakdown of how we look at our league structuring systems. It is based on your job. We basically want high wage earners at U.S. Soccer and if you are a loser then your kid will be too.

MLS Next.... We want you if you are a Neurologist, Radiologist, Physician, Dentist, Surgeon, Software Engineer, Architect, Nurse Practitioner, Anesthesiologist etc. etc. We base our decisions on your career first. The rest we can deal with.

ECNL... We will take you, but you need to have a FICO score of 650 or more. Good news!!! Everyone makes it!!!! If your career choice is Office manager, Police officer, Truck Driver, Registered Nurse, Dental Hygienist, Massage Therapist or Surgical Technician then you are who we want. You make just enough to keep our doors open.

All other leagues... If you work as a Cook, Shampooer, Host or Hostess, Usher, Cashier, Dishwasher, Dry Cleaning, Maid, Food Prep, Waiter or waitress, Parking lot attendant, Home Health Care, etc. etc. your kid is going nowhere. You just do not make enough. Should have listened to your parents.

At U.S. Soccer we want the best. At least the best that can pay. If you can pay you are in. That is how winning is done!!

Soooo, I guess the big club didn't want your kid.

unfortunately to play at most levels is expensive. The only teams that aren't are the ones that play in ICSL and don't really travel. ECNL, ECNL-RL, GA, USYS at top levels, require traveling long distances and often by plane, which then needs car rental in addition to hotels. It all adds up quickly. Not to mention the FOMO extra training that everyone thinks they need.

All for the kids to all end up at thr same place when they get older - with a day job.
