Delco thinks they are a top ECNL program. If you look at the college commits (I think a big reason why parents want their kids playing ECNL), there's only a handful of D1 offers. Real programs like Penn Fusion - their entire rosters go D1. So if parents are thinking they're gonna get a differentiated outcome for D1 placement going from a Westmont ( as an example) to Delco, good luck. And believe me, I'm not saying West Mont is perfect ( far from it), but the grass isn't always greener

They bring it on themselves. They actively recruit other kids at tournaments. I know for certain at least 2 complaints were lodged with the EPYSA after this weekend’s debacle. They know they are a club that can’t develop players, so they steal others’ kids with false promises of ECNL. Then they say they meant dual roster. Then it becomes ECNLR. Happened to my older 2006 players’ best friend. Then quickly there’s too many kids and some do not dress.

This is every club. They cannot recruit RL. They also only play 14 at NL level. So how do you add to the bottom line. Take 24 on the roster and after a year or 2 of not getting NL min drop the kid to RL. This opens up a NL slit to new money and they know only 30% will leave when dropped. Simple business math.
No club cares about developing anything other than the bottom line

Unfortunately no club is perfect - all have pros and cons. Some clubs are run as a business first and foremost others run with the kids development first. We pay our money so we pick our poison, there are certainly clubs who develop players more than others while others to recruit the better talent - debatable if done in the right way or for the right reasons. The basic standard now is for top/ elite teams to be in a patch league whether that is MLS Next/ ECNL or E64 - these leagues are allowing teams in so that they can grow their market share so clubs do need to compete at this level now. Delco are in a fortunate position being in the top two levels are they the best - probably not but you pay your money and take your choice. Penn fusion applied for MLS Next but ECNL told them that they would be removed from their leagues if they were to go in to that structure.

Well said - that's why i think it's hilarious club members from a club like delco casting stones for other clubs trying to improve.

Numerous Delco coaches recruiting other clubs 9v9 players at the Turf Cup. Multiple teams. Witnessed by many. This is not allowed and a friend told me EPYSA is looking into the matter.

They are and there have been numerous complaints about Delco coaches and other coaches but EPYSA has no jurisdiction over ECNL/ US Club team or coaches so they get banned but only on USYS side.

I don’t know what recruiting that poster is talking about at the Turf Cup, but while you are correct regarding the ECNL age groups, 9v9 Delco are not ECNL. They are still bound by the EPYSA rules as they play in the EDP League. Their coaches cannot actively recruit from other clubs. If they were recruiting 9v9 players that is a violation of the rules. Maybe that is why EPYSA investigators are looking into it?

Top 2011 girls team plays pre-ECNL, not EDP.

Sorry to break it to you but your “mom friend” on the team is lying. They very likely reached out to Delco and have already been training there. Delco didn’t just walk up to a random 12 year old and parents to recruit them. They know them. Use your brain a little. How would they know if that parent isn’t involved in EPYSA, or a board member of their club? Unfortunately, easier and cooler to say “they were recruiting me”. However, then the Karen’s go and complain.

That maybe the case with some for sure but so is the other where Delco coaches amongst others have cold called in person approaching the parents to express an interest and recruit - never done in writing with the coaches aware of EPYSA and not caring about other members of boards. It is not regulated properly enough so the possibilities of getting a player they want outweigh the possible outcomes of getting caught

This is the problem with US Soccer. If West Mont does such a good job developing at the zone 1 age group why shouldn't they get a chance to continue to develop these girls? It doesn't make sense that the best developmental clubs lose their players to clubs that have inferior developmental practices. There needs to be an open system so the best rise to the top!
How is E64 perfect? It’s the arguably the 5th tier of girls soccer in the area. So if your a 5th tier player you shouldn’t have to travel to Boston to play games.

the problem isn’t just westmont it’s the whole of youth soccer trying to get all these different leagues to compete.

But west mont should also not be asking their girls program to play in it when they could play edp and not even compete in the top division so why would they need to enter a league with 10x the travel.

Someone (not very smart, perhaps?) can’t read. They said it’s not perfect. SMMFH
