Sounds like the assistant coach was responsible for StonyBrook's recent success and not Ryan. He left for a head coaching gig and won the America East conference in Fall 2014 (his first year). His last year SB was 11 W and 6 L. After he left SB went 5-10 and 6-9. Players did leave this year. Rumor is she's out of touch with this generation's soccer players.

30+ years at SB? No offense but she sounds like the epitome of rehashed/recycled.

Had issues with a handful of student athletes. They went to admin. Admin listened. Basically they felt her personality wasn't the right fit for the new student athletes going forward.

It will be interesting to see what kind of leeway Surf gives Ryan in terms of coaching style.

Frankly I'm surprised this issue didn't come out in the vetting process. Goes to show Surf is about flash and not substance.

Happy we did not try out.

Funny. Over on BOTN somebody commented that the "Kim Wyant Is Joining Surf" press release is no longer on the NY Surf website. Larry's comment to the poster: stop trying to cause trouble.

You think he would comment on the fact that she's off the web link but instead he ignores that fact.

I once posted something 'critical' at a time when Larry was not monitoring the posts. One of his subordinates let it go and posted it because it was not insulting. Next morning, after Larry woke up he saw it and deleted it. Ha ha. So Soviet.

            July 6th Update

            Suffolk, Nassau and Queens

Still no fields, no coaches, no announced leagues, no camps, etc

But the payment receiving system is still going strong.

And the Surf screwups continue. They advertise their camp as $295 under BOTN camps (a Larry post) but the Surf website lists the price as $375.

They are not that big to have screwups like this. They should not have screwups like this.

And their summer camps are in Westchester. Totally duping the Queens-LI market is the BotN and NY Surf. Poor KK got suckered into it. I'm sure they wish they didn't. They will be in the shadow of WC and NYSC I. Their market. Certainly no GDA in their future.

There seems to be some reference to Surf and the Sachem fields (Waverly) on BOTN, but the "news" hasn't been announced. Anyone have any idea what is going on there?

Posed about the Surf camp price discrepancy on BOTN. It was posted for 2 hours at most before wiped out by the all mighty Larry ....

I don't think it was field related. It was just in the thread about the fields.

I have to say the latest Surf big hire has an impressive resume. Am I missing something?

This is the the type of person NY Surf should be hiring if they want to be ECNL-quality.

She's going to be on the Board of Directors - she will not be coaching any of the teams.

She'll be working on girl player development with MF.

Her recent college coaching and WNT compensates for the lowest alphabet license.

The point is she's not rehashed/recycled. She's also a newer member of the WNT and was on
for 8 years. She also has recent D1 coaching experience. Compare to someone who on the WNT in 1985. Coached FAU when the position was part time and did not apply when the position became full time (most likely because of the poor W-L) record. Time will tell how she does with the NYU men.
