Where are the NY Girls ECNL and GA teams

Why are there so few NY girls teams that play ECNL or GA?

Most ECNL teams are in LI with one in Rockland county NY.
GA is NYSC and a few upstate or LI
Not much else available. Nothing out of the 5 Borrows in those leagues.

Many parents don’t want to travel far or spend that money. EDP is fine for their players and parents complain about even that minimal travel.

And some of the ECNL/GA clubs aren't worth traveling for

Assuming we are con centrating only downstate here.
          LI has EMSC, LISC, SUSA
Westchester/Rockland is World Class & NYSC. Some westchester kids do CFC, while we have even had players travel for PDA.

Metro NY has fewer options than say southern NJ but one can argue that there is no benefit to adding teams here.

Metro NY has way more options than southern NJ for GA and ECNL ... you just listed them all .... plus, add in some really good EDP teams. Not to mention the southern NJ teams are not very good.

PS - its not like some start up ECNL club could just petition Mayor Adams and buy 20-30 acres of Central Park to build a new facility. Land here is a little on the expensive side ... and mostly already has something built on it.

Simple answer to your question. The existing ECNL and GA clubs have made a mockery of the sport to the point where it is about money and never about the girls. The clubs are made up of coaches and administrators that work hand in hand with each other to keep parents paying money for a dream. It has reached to a point where extremely talented girls are going over to LAX/Basketball and other sports because of how heavy political the soccer picture has become in NY. We will never develop talent at the current rate and our ECNL and GA rosters will always be luke warm.

We have a dense population and outside of LI (which no one will travel to) there is one GA and one ECNL. World Class consistently performs well, makes the national playoffs and somehow the teams are “lukewarm” by your standard? Between susa, nysc and wcfc we have kids on NTs. Id say the area is pretty decent and we have a number of good teams that have competed well against top clubs in Georgi, Texas and California, despite us having 25% less time on field due to weather.

Traffic in the tristate area makes traveling torture.
                    no thanks

I'm not defending the clubs, but the dream does exist for the players. These clubs consistently have players that go on to play in college at various levels in D1, D2, and D3, more so than any other clubs in the area.

And for 99.5% the goal.is college,.not going pro or making the NT. ECNL and GA offer a product rhe consumer and college coaches want. Is that good for soccer? Probably not, but again families don't care nor is it really their problem to solve.

The system cant exist just for the few kids who play for NTs, honestly half of whom could be swapped out for many other players across the country.

Kids coming out of high school soccer and not associated to these clubs are in line with the same dreams and track to college. Not much need for these clubs is there?

The few players who go from non ECNL/GA teams to play in college usually are living in areas where there is no option to play at those levels. If you are in LI, Westchester or Rockland and you play for some EDP team instead of WC/NYSC/SUSA then it is not going to be easy and some college coaches who may have interest will basically tell you to get on a higher level team.
