If you were in IT, you would know that the term to describe the permanent loss of data as "SAFE". In today's day and age, if this were to happen, the entire IT department would be fired. It's simply too easy and cheap these days to build in redundancies for this to be an issue without someone actively trying to bring down operations for a prolonged period of time.

I work in IT. I can't tell you how many times I walked into the offices of a new client, sometimes large clients, to see that they have no effective disaster recovery set up. It would no surprise me in the least if Gotsport never really tested what they had only to find out it didn't work when drives started chunking out.
