I'm with you. I have concerns with the rate of improvement outside the US for the Women's team - all for the next thread :)

They suck the joy and creativity of the youth right out of them before it can begin to flourish

The current USWNT could be the most talented group of players yet. This mantra that the team has taken a step back is just more people looking for reasons to complain. They definitely are the favorites once again. What they lack is the character and mental toughness of their spine with Hope Solo, Julie Ertz, Carli Lloyd and Amy Wambach. That group intimidated teams during warm ups. This group lacks that type of character that has nothing to do with skills and technical abilities.

1 - Men's thread, do we need to start one for USWNT because they do have issues - they are just different issues with the men, although related.
2 - It's not about our USWNT not being the top dog, it's that there are now other teams on the porch that can nick us. A lot more countries can now compete with us on any given day. We've made no real changes and the rest of the world has.

Yes. Start a thread. Actually more interesting than the men. Illustrates how the approach of both men and women are similar, but the state of the game in the rest of the world has led to different outcomes. For now

Interesting hire....but I'm more interested in learning about the new position US Soccer has created called the "Chief Soccer Growth Officer" in charge of US Youth Development.

I like the idea that it will be a specialized position and the sole focus for this person is youth development instead of part of what the Sporting Director was in charge of.

Maybe the US is finally starting to do something about the same issues we have been discussing on this board....it's a start:

They're outsourcing it, which rarely does much for anyone other than the company actually running it.

What do you mean? How are they outsourcing it?

Is it similar to how Germany hired a company to unify a style of play across their Country in the early 2000's

                              Read the FAQ.

This is not going to be anything more than a fun league. If you’re expecting more than that out of this league, you’re barking up the wrong tree.

There won’t even be involvement from the clubs themselves.

It's a start. I think it will probably be based on fun development with no pressure on winning at the young ages.

AT least it's a change to the current youth system that keeps failing
