Very good hire. You will now see how inept the former coach was!

I don't know if you can blame it all on the coach, Fordham isn't an easy school to recruit for...who the hell wants to send their kid to the Bronx? Even before the current climate, Fordham isn't really a draw, academically you need solid grades but don't get the glory of being considered a well known "top academic" and athletically, A-10 is lackluster in general.

Definitely smart to bring in someone with ties to a local club, hopefully he can convince some strong players to come on board.

It's quite a good school but a crazy expensive even by NE private university standards. While not overly religious it's still a jesuit school and that doesn't appeal to everyone. They just hired their first female president who also is the first non priest so ti will be interesting to see what if any changes she makes. MN will build a stronger track record and he's a good salesman. After all he got players to go to UB :)

And I don't believe the program is fully funded. Fordham law school has a great reputation. But yeah NY is scary right now for a young lady; unless you enjoy violent crime. Terrible.

I definitely wish the guy luck, it's going to be a whole different ballgame. Academically, all you need is a pulse to get admitted to Bridgeport. Athletically, a solid town team background and maybe a HS All-Division/County nod player, finds success in D2. Convincing a kid from Brentwood, Hicksville or even Inglewood CA or Bogota Colombia (not kidding) to head to Bridgeport is an easier sell (believe it or not) than trying to convince an upper middle class suburban kid to head to the Bronx.

He will do well, certainly much better than the mediocrity of the last several years. Fordham's campus is also light years nicer than U Bridgeport's and at least with Fordham you have NYC at your fingertips. UB you have, well, Connecticut. Not very appealing to many young college students. He'll build up the team and it won't be that hard a sell.

I think you're comparing apples to oranges though. With all due respect, the types of players one would recruit for UB wouldn't stand a chance academically at Fordham or Athletically in a D1 atmosphere. If he can convince some of those CFC players to head over then that would be great, but realistically it *is* a tough sell. NYC is not a "sell" right now and Fordham is usually in the mix for kids looking at Lower level ACC, Big East (both better soccer for the most part), Lower level Ivy, Patriot League (both better academics for the most part), heck I even know a kid who chose a MAAC over Fordham. I'm not trying to be a downer, just realistic.

To be clear, I don't have a dog in the fight at all, and would LOVE to see Fordham find success! Just think folks should manage their expectations

They will be able to compete year after year for the A10 tournament. UMass, St Bonny and URI aren’t powerhouse programs and they all make it. MN will be just fine. Local connections to all ECNL clubs will be a huge help and international connections will be a game changer.

Feel bad for all the current players - get ready for a slew of international players. That's how he operates.

All players are under review any time a new coach comes in. That's how it works and is one of the many reasons so many don't last all four years. The new coach will bring in their own assistants and assess who they want to keep and who won't ever see the field. Technically you can't get cut but most will make it clear where you stand so you can try to transfer out or hang it up.. If you're looking at a program with a losing record, even mediocre, keep in mind the coach might get canned. Successful coaches also get opportunities to move up. Yet another reason to make sure you love the school above all else.

While he was HC at Bridgeport he HAD to bring in international players if he hoped to field a decent program. That's just the reality of being a private school in DII, even DI. Not every school can be like Grand Valley State when it comes to a competitive team with only 100% American players.

He needs to change the roster. Fordham has been bad for years. Former coach crushed the program. Will take years to recover.
