    College / University Rosters

Question for the folks that are involved with the college soccer, why most of the colleges teams rosters have listed players high school info, and very little to none club info and career achievements?
Listing high school info and accolades, when high school soccer has almost zero weight in the college coaches recruiting process is a hypocritic and also not fair to the clubs.

    Two points:

    * My kid's team mentions their club team, actually has more details about their club team than their HS team
    * They are bios, brag sheets and more awards come out through HS than through club
-> Extra credit, kids do their own bios

Unfair to the clubs in what way? Did they not get paid the tuition for the player to have participated?

Newsflash. The player bio is about the player and their accolades/not intended to be an advertisement for whatever club they happened to play at.

Depends on the club, the coach, the DOC. Those clubs with clubs, coaches and DOC’s with excellent credentials, respect among the peers and notoriety inevitably get mentioned in player bios.

Club coaches developed these players, not high school coaches and clubs provided a platform for the developments, not the high school.

Newsflash, the high school accolades are useless and misleading.

Of course they are useless, but they are brag sheets. Most players bio would just say "Played at XYZ club for 8 years".

We are really getting down to the bottom of the barrel of things to complain about today.

Sure. Club coaches get paid by the club to babysit these kids a few hours a week. These players develop on their own.

Amazing how so many low level players are suddenly out performing all these wonderful and talented ECNL kids.

Is that because of their rec level coach or their own ambition/training?

Penn State has it right way. Club info right next to the name of the player, as it should be.

Kids playing in the top ECNL teams are there because hey are the most ambitious and hard working kids that you can find.

Correct and zero to do with the club.

Do you watch any HS soccer? Either the ECNL kids don't really want to be there/try or the other kids are just as good. Maybe a little of both who knows but if they are supposed to be so much better I don't see it on a large scale.

I'd like to say my kid deserves all the credit, but it wouldn't be completely true. Her #1 target (and 2nd, and third) ignored her before she moved to an ECNL club. Suddenly - and it was suddenly - e-mails were replied to and visits were offered. After three games in ECNL vs. over a year of failed contacts before. Frustrating when the question comes "where have you been?"

Mock it all you want, but it still is the best platform for getting players in front of coaches. You can be a great player, but if nobody sees you play it doesn't matter.

Why? Player did the work, paid their fees, club was the receipent of all of it. Many times the player helps promote the club.

Pay the fee, get to ride the ride. Terrible. A good player is a good player. Creditworthiness/size of the wallet of the parents should not be part of the equation.
