new to town - can someone explain views on Newton Girls Soccer vs leagues like Scorpion, Surf or Juventus? Seems like many options to choose from but would like to know differences between the leagues vs town, players, competitiveness, commitment, cost, etc.

Is this a trolling post? Town is mostly to play with your friends and to have fun. Club is if you child wants more serious competition. There are regional teams and then higher level teams depending on the club (DPL, Impact, GA, ECNL). Mostly you want to find a coach you like and stick with that are the younger ages. Juventus is no more they are now IFA. SSS & NEFC will be the best options in terms of development.

They’re not mutually exclusive. Lots of girls play for town on Saturdays and club on Sundays, especially at the younger ages. Club training and competition certainly has a much higher “ceiling”.

Town soccer is mostly run by volunteers… so you know the quality lacks. Club soccer is mostly run by snakes and vampires… so you know, pick your poison.

Town soccer stinks and is for poor people. Club soccer is better and is for r̶i̶c̶h̶ p̶e̶o̶p̶l̶e̶ suckers.

Town is not club. You can’t play for 2 towns nor 2 clubs, but many play town and club. Towns with higher home prices tend to have better town soccer programs.
NGS is a mature and respected town program. Most Newton parents have their kids play both town and club. Newton’s location makes many clubs accessible

I'll add that if it wasn't for HS sports, town programs probably would not exist. The fact that HS sports mandates that kids do not play club if they want to play HS sports... pretty much is what keeps town programs alive.

What are you talking about. First, many town teams are gone bu the time HS starts. Too many decent players have left for clubs, others drop out for other sports and interests and there's basically no teams left. Secondly, the no club rule is only during the HS season is there protect players from burnout, exhaustion and abusive coaches putting too much pressure on kids.
