    Difference between ECNL and RL

How far is the gap between #12-18 on ECNL vs #1-11 on ECNL RL? Advantage and disadvantage for the player? We all know that rarely little movement happens between club levels - yet plenty of promises are still made to keep players and families engaged (and continuing to pay)

Always choose to play. What is the point of staying with a team where you don’t play much. If you are getting quality minutes and you are fighting for more then stay. If you are rotting on the bench find another home.

The gap between roster talent might not be that wide, so it comes down to opportunity. I personally won't have my kid participate in RL if she ever gets cut from NL. Both options are a huge financial hit, but at least with NL there's that opportunity for high level exposure at National showcases. The club directors advocate heavily on behalf of the NL players. So it really is NL or bust for many of us. There are so many other options equal to or better than RL for far less money and time.

If you're not in ECNL or a top GA team, the rest of the alphabet soup leagues are more similar than not. Pick the best coaching and fit for your player and family. If you had PDA ECLR that would be one thing. FSA or CFC R not so much. A good EDP team or Yankee could be a better option

If this is FSA, beware of RL. It’s a notorious dumping ground to pad coffers and make space for other players that they steal from other clubs. The boys side does this often. Wonder why any of their RL teams continue to exist.

FSA isn’t that good - nor is the training for their teams - period!

You do realize that CFC and FSA are required to have regional teams? You do know that's per ECNL not the clubs right?

Of course! That’s the rule and we all know how ridiculous it is too

ECRL is just the B teams of these clubs (except in NJ with PDA where it is their D, E and F teams)
The top half of ECNL and GA are worth playing for, the bottom or RL is just a money grab

Exactly! Wondering when parents will recognize that the patch on the sleeve and the logo on the jersey if their child can’t play at a high level is meaningless. Call it what it is - developmental soccer and nothing more.

4000 plus travel for the equivalent of mediocre soccer is crazy! Yet, parents pay for what they think offers their child a leg up on the rest.

This concept of elite youth soccer development is broken

They all price out roughly the same. Yankee or Rush Select travel a ton as well. And CFC ecrl is way better than FSA ecrl. CFC has a few good ecrl teams. The fsa ecrl teams are awful They wouldn't be competitive in any legaue. As a whole the National EDP teams are probaly stronger than ecrl. There are limited good ecrl teams. But the people who said it is all roughly the same after ecnl are correct. Find the best coach and individual team that will go to the most competitive showcases if college is the goal.

Face it - if RL is what a club offers your child, your kid just isn’t that good. Better off setting your cash on fire!

Why little movement happens between levels? What if player leaves ecnl team, what does the club do? Take a newbie and not promote one from ecrl?

Everyday all day! Happens quite a bit - especially to pull a stud from another club. RLs are RLs for a reason
