Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham University women's soccer head coach Jessica Clinton announced her resignation today. Clinton has served as head coach at Fordham for the past eight years.

"We thank Coach Clinton for her hard work, leadership, and dedication to Fordham and our student-athletes over the past eight years," said Fordham director of athletics Ed Kull. "We wish her the best of luck moving forward."

On her departure, Coach Clinton remarked, "I am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve as the head coach for Fordham University Women's Soccer for the last eight years and be a part of a terrific program."

Clinton took over the Fordham program in 2014. Her overall record at Fordham was 58-63-21 and the 2021 Fordham squad finished 4-12-2 overall, 2-7-1 in the Atlantic 10.

Fordham will conduct a national search for a head women's soccer coach immediately.

Another underperforming coach is out. Probably got a year reprieve because of Covid.

Fordham coach had been there for awhile, in fact some could argue they were were treated too nicely. But Fordham isn't exactly an athletic powerhouse so I don't think the school cares much. Clearly there's a disgruntled Yale parent on here but no program will get rid of a coach in such a short period of time.

8 years and supposedly hated by the players. It hurt recruiting as well.

Not what I heard. Too bad she picked crappy players.

It's not exactly a sports powerhouse school and it's insanely expensive. Are they even fully funded? She was lucky to have gotten eight years purely on performance measures. Most with that record would have been let go much sooner. Once you have a mediocre record it becomes harder to recruit better players and becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Time for a change.

Who is Barbie? I heard going with best candidate; not tethered to male or female. So maybe Ken.

Women are getting all these small jobs. Schools both want to bother and just go with inexperienced women

Most Catholic colleges arfen't fully funded particularly those not in major conferences. While girls numbers are good, the quality is not even close to HS boys in terms of quality. It is very hard for a school like Fordham to get a potential league all star. You might recruit some good skill but Speed and lateral quickness go to the power conferences.
