Apparently only worthless on your team. They run the most, they connect defense and offense. Agree your team plays worthless if you do not regularly see a midfield pick out a pass than breaks lines or be the pivotal change of transition. Based on your option you don’t have midfielders, you have people who run around and don’t pick their head up at the right time to be a factor. Don’t worry your are in the majority. My kids learned these skills at 6, it wasn’t easy, but has been an asset. It’s not a glamour on like a perfect strike. In fact it’s hardly noticeable unless you slow the video down, but they check the field multiple times before they get the ball - even while it’s in route to them.

Not only should the ball be constantly directed to the midfield, its the competent ones that can connect front to back, back to front, left to right and right to left over and over again building it up slowly to allow numbers to get forward to mount an adequate attack on goal ... as opposed to constantly booting a longball and ending up in 1v5 positions and wondering why our wings and forwards have no success. Idiots.

This! If you don't do this the teams will not have success against the better ECNL teams. It's harder and may cause them to lose games early but at the end of the day it's the only way to win against the best teams.

The more you progress through lines, the more you ultimately open up those possibilities for a long, direct ball, too. Players need to understand that nothing can be done the same repeatedly. Players who see how other teams react and then can switch things up are successful.

Bingo! The long ball is an effective strategy when the defense is playing a high line with a midfield block. But if that’s your only move then teams will quickly counter. Especially in the age of video, 5 min of video will tell you a lot.

ow losing players left and right. just about had enough to field GA teams this weekend. taking players on the GA teams who don't belong there, players choosing to play EDP vs GA because of the terrible coaching at the HS ages on the GA side. coach mogie is killing this program all by himself!
